Detection of errors in your GEDCOM-file
- GEDCOM-format of dates. Invalid dates are corrected if possible, otherwise they are changed into comments.
- Logical consistency between dates. This check reveals f.ex. parents who are unrealisticly young, individuals who married after their death and a number of other errors that easily happen as a consequence of a typing error.
- Individuals who do not have a gender. Males with a last name ending with -datter. Individuals with first names that are otherwise only given to the other gender.
- Identical individuals.
You will be notified if GEDCOMP finds any of these errors in your GEDCOM-file. By far most GEDCOM-files have some of the above errors, so chances are that you from the beginning will benefit from submitting your GEDCOM-file.
After this your GEDCOM-file will be compared with the other GEDCOM-files in GEDCOMP. Your GEDCOM-file will also be compared with GEDCOM-files, that are included in GEDCOMP later on.
